Oh my,

It’s the 4th of July.

What will everyone do?

Rod and Helen are at the beach.
Walter has gone to the zoo.
Try as you might, you will not reach
The Greggs, for they’re out too.

Somewhere a band is playing;
A Sousa march, I believe.
Jean mentions how she’s graying,
As the wind picks up her sleeve.

It’s a hot one out today.
The sky is resoundingly blue.
I remember hearing Aunt Bell say
She would dedicate her life anew,

Boom! Boom!

The garden is in bloom.

Tonight the sky will unglue.
